What to Expect During Your First Visit At Driftwood Dental Studio

During your first visit with us, we’ll sit with you and get to know you before we perform any treatment. Once you feel comfortable and relaxed, we’ll take some diagnostic x-rays, perform a comprehensive oral exam that includes an oral cancer screening and periodontal probing, followed by a cleaning. Your comfort is important to us, so if you feel anxious at any time during your appointment, let us know.

When you visit Driftwood Dental Studio we want you to feel like you're visiting a close friend. To help ensure you feel relaxed and comfortable, we have a beverage station with cold beverages, coffee, and hot tea plus iPads to enjoy before your appointment. While you’re in the treatment chair, we have blankets for you to curl up in and headphones with curated playlists for you to listen to.

Our digital scanner can take a highly accurate digital impression of your teeth and jaw. Digital scans give you the ability to see your teeth instantly in 3D, so you can see what Dr. Butler sees.

CBCT, or cone beam computed tomography, is a special type of x-ray machine that generates 3D images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in one complete scan. A CBCT x-ray provides detailed images of the bone and helps diagnose diseases of all hard and soft tissue including teeth, bone, muscles, nasal cavities and sinuses. Being able to offer our patients such a detailed image may help catch and diagnose a potential oral health issue in its earliest stages.

Lasers in dentistry have become more popular in the last decade. Our soft tissue laser can do everything from treat periodontal disease and remove extra gum tissue to reduce bleeding and swelling.

Air abrasion is a technique that removes small areas of tooth decay without a drill. Air abrasion is like a mini sandblaster used to spray away decay. During air abrasion, a fine stream of silica is aimed at the decayed portion of the tooth and sprayed with high velocity until the decay is removed. In many cases, anesthetic isn’t even needed.
